NewHair by Paula Young

I just found my way to a uniquely, interesting and new product over at Paula Young. I describe it as a kind of notch wig - instead of there being monofilament or lace at the front part, there is a gap instead where your own hair part shows through. Paula Young calls it NewHair and they have about five different styles like this. I chose a Chanel, which happens to be a fairly popular mid-length choice as a full wig. I didn’t like though that the full wig Chanel seemingly sports permatease and no monofilament part, so the NewHair Chanel was thus a better choice to try!

The NewHair Chanel is a bit tricky to put on properly at first, but becomes easier with practice. It incorporates the 3/4 wig fall’s front and back nape attachment combs, the front comb being located just a bit in front of the crown. And then there are clips to attach on each side of the “notch” gap. Getting 2 combs and 2 clips to sit just so on the head for a left part (as the NewHair Chanel has) does wind up being a bit of a balancing act! Once everything is in place, you then take your own hair, and again much like a 3/4 fall, comb it over the edges of the notch to blend and camoflauge.

Overall, it works out pretty well! Falls are often so obvious because there exists a single straight edge which delineates the wig hair from your own. I find that this NewHair line gets around that while still providing the ability to reveal your own hair part. A very handy feature! If your own hairline is robust enough, I would recommend giving the NewHair line a try.
