Extensions, take 3

December 10th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized

hair4For those keeping score, it’s Modelmom 0, Alice’s hair extensions, 2.

For those catching up on the drama, since the Aveda show and my daughter’s first modeling gig (and Alice’s extreme and extremely cool haircut) she’s worn extensions. First the extensions provided to her by the Aveda people and the able Lisa from Seattle who just happens to do Michelle Pfeiffer and Riannha’s hair. Those lasted a few weeks until they needed to come out for some pictures and we endured degluing them from Alice’s scalp. Pictures over, within days the extensions were back in. (Remember the 8 hour ordeal my husband went through?)

Well, it’s more than a month later and she still has them. It took another visit to Sweeney Todd’s last week - this time MUCH shorter (1 hour) so Alice could get some of them resewn - but she’s still is sporting long-ish hair.

I so wish that she’d just take them out and let her beautiful short hair show and grow. Truly, the extensions don’t look that great (in my opinion) and they definitely aren’t Alice’s strong, healthy hair when it was long. Although the whole Aveda weekend -Antoinette-haircut thing was a good learning experience for her, I’m regretting that she lost her hair. And Alice wants her long hair back. So, whether I like it or not, she’s keeping the extensions.

It doesn’t matter what I think anyway. It’s not my hair, and it’s Alice’s choice. It always has been and she’s paid for it.
