Hair that makes you look younger!

June 29th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Beauty, Hair Gossip, Hair Tips & Tricks

shinyhairWhat woman doesn’t want to look younger? I haven’t met one yet. And the good news is there are lots of ways to do so, just by using your hair. Here are just a few for you to try:

Short Hair: Hair that is between chin and shoulder length is youthful. The length is flattering on most everyone. And it provides lots of options for styling, with out being high maintenance.

Bangs: Go for side swept bangs. They hide lines and wrinkles on the forehead. Plus, its a magic trick! Side swept bangs take a few pounds off the face.

Shiny: Keep your hair shiny by keeping it in good condition, using conditioner, or a shine serum works wonders for adding a glistening glow to your locks. Shiny hair is healthy hair and healthy hair is youthful.

Layers: When one imagines a youthful girl they usually see her with bouncy hair. To achieve this bouncy look, go for soft layers.Plus, hair that moves is a distraction from other imperfections.

Highlights: Pick colored highlights that accent your hair. and make people focus on it, rather then things you don’t want them to focus on.

The key is to find hair styles that accentuate your best features and hide your flaws. And dont over do it. Trying to look too young often works in the opposite dicrection. Leaving he woman looking older then she really is. For more information go to: http://www.bestsyndication.com/?q=node/31592

Chiggy’s Touch: Putting the bounce in my curls

June 29th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Uncategorized

People constantly stop me on the street ask me what kind of hair I use or compliment me. I tell them that a) its natural and b) thank you. My hair in 2008 compared to my hair in 2009 has made leaps and bounds. I’m talking deep-fried ends, mad frizzies and this orange tone on the ends that I could not seem to get rid of. My saving grace came one day when I was googling curly hairstyles. I was determined to switch up my look, from the wild and wavy to a curly sophisticate. I came across a salon in the Yorkville (posh) area of downtown Toronto called Chiggy’s Touch. Not only did that name give me the sniggles (snicker giggle) but also it caught my attention, enough for me to make an appointment. I don’t think those ladies were ready for the bird’s nest that I called my hair that day. After 3 hours I came out looking like homegirl in the Venus commercials…. you know which one!!! (Sad I couldn’t find a picture of her)

What’s so great about Chiggy is that they cater to everyone, when I say everyone I mean EVERYONE. They specialize, in haircuts and color, they are deemed the curly hair experts, and they provide hair care for women of color not to mention they hook up flawless weaves & extensions.

As promised from like months ago, in my last hair post, I present to you a glimpse inside of Chiggy’s Touch: More »

Human Hair Extensions

June 29th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Uncategorized

There comes a time in the lives of all women when they realize that their hair, the crowning glory of their former years, has slowly started thinning. Some women accept this change with stoicism and reconcile themselves to the fact that they are no longer turning heads. But others take recourse to a course of hair extension in order to preserve their youthful looks. This basically involves attaching Human Hair or synthetic hair to a person’s head so that she appears to be blessed with a thicker and fuller growth than is actually the case. In most cases, hair made out of synthetic fibers is cheaper than Human Hair Extensions
, but ladies looking for high quality stuff which can’t be distinguished from their own mane prefer Human Hair Extensions as that is what looks the most natural.
There are other advantages also in choosing Human Hair Extensions. With these, you are not restricted to one particular color or one particular style as you are with the synthetic variety. You can wash your Human hair Extensions just like your own hair, and color them and style them also. And when you are getting your extensions done, you can choose Human Hair Extensions which match the color and texture of your hair exactly as there are a wide variety of Human Hair Extensions which are available. There is also a practical aspect of this application which is that Human Hair Extensions last three times longer than the other variety. This is largely because synthetic hair does not possess the cuticles which Human Hair Extensions do so that they tangle more easily and lose their natural sheen.
So if natural looking hair is what you are looking for, Human Hair Extensions are your best bet.

I love this song.

Aaaaaanyway. So I just finished straightening my brand new extensions *hazaa* and I’m debating whether or not I should trim them shorter. I love having long hair, but they look really fake. Although…does it matter? They are fake right? lol. Just like my nails and my hair colour.

I love them. But they hurt. I didn’t get much sleep at all last night and I doubt I will again tonight. Sigh.

Well. I’m about to head out and get my ears stretched more. OH! actually there’s something I want to show you!!

A Social Experiment

The question: Do men prefer curly hair or straight hair on a woman?

The experiment: A series of tests to determine if men prefer one style over the other.

The researcher: Teri Evans

Teri set out on a social experiment to determine if more men were attracted to her natural curls or flat ironed straight locks.

The first test: Online dating profiles. Teri Set up two profiles, exactly the same in every way. Except for one thing, her picture. In one profile she displays a picture of herself with straightened hair. And in the other profile, curly hair.

The result:

  • The straight profile was viewed 1,606 times for the month, while the curly one received 1,063 views during the month it was posted.
  • The flat-ironed look got 181 emails, compared to 60 emails for the curly profile.
  • On the flirtatious side, the stick-straight profile received 120 winks, while curly locks caught 60 winks.

The winner: Without meeting face to face, most men preferred straight hair.

The Second Test: To date some of the men she met from her online profiles. Teri decided she would best be able to read the men if she threw them off at first. She decided to show up as the opposite of what they expected. If they reached out to her straight profile, She would meet them as a curly, and vice versa.

The result: Most of the men seemed surprised by her unexpected hair. But when Teri asked about it most men said hair doesn’t matter either way.

And perhaps it doesn’t. But one thing that matters for sure was the hidden factor, her confidence. Teri noticed that the dates went much more smoothly when she showed up smiling and confident. As apposed to the dates when she was nervous about their reactions.  So whether you prefer to go curly or straight, what it most important is what you bring from the inside.

When you’re gonna rob someone…

June 25th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Hair Extension News

lazcano_eduardoBreaking into a house is a serious offense. If you’re going to be stupid enough to try to rob someone, at least be smart enough to wear a hat or dye your hair afterward.

Eduardo Lazcano allegedly broke into a house at about 2 am on Tuesday. Luckily a resident spotted him as he fled with a camera and computer equipment. And was able to give police a very detailed description, including his firecracker hair.

Eduardo was arrested shortly after and charged with second degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny. Perhaps all that dye effected his brain and his ability to think.

The Big Bang Theory - Haircut and Hairstyles Hair Blog Post

Ok, so if you don’t have bangs you need them. They are what’s hot! Most of my clients in Cincinnati are probably laughing at me right now! I use to hate bangs. I talked everyone that I could out of them. They knew I didn’t like them.
You have to maintain them if you want them to look good all the time. That means getting them trimmed every 4 weeks.. If your hair grows fast it could be 2. The grow out process is also not fun! I never wanted to look at the other possibilities..
Now, I absolutely love them. I have grow out ideas and although you still have maintenance. If you don’t want to actually cut your hair get the new extensions. That’s right Bang extensions!! You clip them in, and most can be shampooed, curled, and cut! How great is that.
Adding a bang is the smallest change that can make the largest impact. It can change your entire look. Whether it’s a pixie bang, above, at, or below brow bang, or side bang, they are the answer if you want to change your hair but don’t know what to do…
If you look up “bang extensions” in your search engine you will get a lot of results! There are so many out there!
Enjoy

30,000 Donations

June 24th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in Hair Extension News

xin_1004041211042742265074It seems that all countries have their own ways of paying for road improvements. While America, and most others, take money from our paychecks to fund the rebuilding of our cities, Burma takes donations. Donations of hair that is. Specifically the central city of Mandalay.

Monks have been overseeing the donation of the hair of close the to 30,000 women, some as long as 4 feet. The donations are in an effort to make money to repair the roads and build new bridges surrounding the Alaungdaw Kathapha pagoda. [The pilgrimage site said to contain the remains of Buddha's disciples.] As of now, access to the pagoda is very limited. As some sections can only be reached by foot or by elephant.

One part of the repaired roads will be called “Shwe Hsan Nwe bridge,” or “Bridge of Golden Tresses”.
